Appalachian Trail at Blood Mountain, Union County

Take a Hike with Mountains & Main on the Appalachian Trail/Byron Reece Trail. The hike from Neel Gap to the Blood Mountain Summit is a 2.5-mile trek (five miles roundtrip). Near the summit, you’ll find picnic rocks and incredible vistas overlooking Yonah Mountain, Tray Mountain, Lake Winfield Scott, and Slaughter Mountain. After the hike, stop by Mountain Crossings, the only place where the Appalachian Trail runs through a building. It’s a great spot for gear, souvenirs, and to see the boots and packs left behind by those who have completed the trail. A true Appalachian tradition.
Black Rock Mountain State Park (Rabun County)

Tower Mountain, Habersham County
Take a Hike with Mountains & Main to Chenocetah Mountain, also known as “Tower Mountain” in Habersham County. Located near Mount Airy and Cornelia, Georgia, this mountain stands at 1,830 feet and offers breathtaking views. In 1937, the WPA built the iconic observation tower at the summit for the Forest Service, which has been used as a fire tower for decades. Visitors can drive to the top of the mountains and walk up to the tower and soak in the views. The name “Chenocetah” comes from the Cherokee language, meaning “see all around”—a fitting name for such a scenic spot!
